Needle, bobbin & presser-foot details

Read the model-specific requirements with each answer before choosing parts.

Needle

System type

  • The source does not name an industrial system code or authorize an unlisted exact needle product; never use a bent needle.; Applies to the U.S. BLMY manual scope established on physical PDF page 9.

Use straight home sewing machine needles.

Sources and pages

Fabric thread point conditions

  • Match the exact fabric or application row, thread type and weight, and needle size; a wrong combination can bend or break the needle or cause uneven, puckered or skipped stitches.; Applies to the U.S. BLMY manual scope established on physical PDF page 9.

Follow the complete visual table. For medium fabrics: broadcloth uses cotton thread at 60-80, taffeta uses synthetic thread at 60-80, and flannel or gabardine uses silk thread at 50; all use 75/11-90/14. For thin fabrics: lawn uses cotton thread at 60-80, georgette uses synthetic thread at 60-80, and challis or satin uses silk thread at 50; all use 65/9-75/11. For thick fabrics: denim uses cotton thread at 30-50, corduroy uses synthetic thread at 50, and tweed uses silk thread at 50; all use 90/14-100/16. For stretch jersey or tricot use knit thread at 50-60 with ballpoint 75/11-90/14. For easily frayed fabrics use cotton or synthetic at 50-80, or silk at 50, with 65/9-90/14. For top-stitching use synthetic or silk at 30 with 90/14-100/16. Use 90/14-100/16 with transparent nylon thread regardless of fabric.

Needle insertion

  • Preserve the complete safety order and do not use excessive force; incorrect insertion or tightening may break the needle or damage the machine.; Applies to the U.S. BLMY manual scope established on physical PDF page 9.

Raise the needle, turn the machine off and cover the needle-plate hole. Lower the presser foot. Hold the needle with the left hand, use the screwdriver to loosen the clamp screw counterclockwise and remove the old needle. Insert a straight replacement with its flat side toward the rear until it touches the stopper; while holding it with the left hand, use the screwdriver to securely tighten the clamp screw.

Bobbin

OEM part number

  • Bobbins from other models will not operate correctly, and using any other bobbin may cause injury or machine damage; no substitute, Class 15 or cross-brand equivalence is established.; Applies to the U.S. BLMY manual scope established on physical PDF page 9.

Use only the included bobbin or the same type, identified as X52800-150.

Sources and pages

Dimensions profile material

  • Only height is established; material, diameter, complete geometry and Class 15 classification remain unknown.; Applies to the U.S. BLMY manual scope established on physical PDF page 9.

The same-type X52800-150 bobbin is depicted as 11.5 mm (approximately 7/16 inch) high.

Sources and pages

Class system

Not yet verified
  • Not yet verified: The exact BLMY manual page does not print a bobbin class; the conflicting accessory-page Class 15 label is held out of the profile.

Presser foot

Attachment mount mechanism

  • Use the foot appropriate for the selected stitch. This proves only the source-native pin/notch mechanism, not a standardized shank or universal fit.; Applies to the U.S. BLMY manual scope established on physical PDF page 9.

Raise the needle, turn the machine off and raise the presser foot. Press the holder's black release button, align the replacement foot's pin with the holder notch, lower the lever until the pin snaps into the notch, then raise the lever to verify secure attachment.

Sources and pages

Pressure adjustment

  • The larger setting applies stronger pressure; this is a fabric-pressure setting, not attachment geometry.; Applies to the U.S. BLMY manual scope established on physical PDF page 9.

Lower the presser-foot lever before turning the pressure dial. Set pressure from 1 to 4: use 1-2 for thick fabrics and 3-4 for thin fabrics, then reset the dial to standard setting 3 after sewing.

Sources and pages

Holder removal

  • The source-specific procedure does not establish holder dimensions, a standardized shank, adapters or generic screw-on compatibility.; Applies to the U.S. BLMY manual scope established on physical PDF page 9.

When cleaning or fitting a foot that does not use the holder, remove the foot and loosen the holder screw. To reattach, align the holder with the lower-left side of the presser bar, hold it in place and tighten the screw.

Sources and pages

Walking foot attachment

  • Sew with the walking foot only at slow-to-medium speed; needle contact may bend or break the needle, and no cross-brand foot fit is asserted.; Applies to the U.S. BLMY manual scope established on physical PDF page 9.

Remove the holder, hook the walking foot's connecting fork over the needle-clamp screw, lower the lever, insert and securely tighten the holder screw with the screwdriver. Before sewing, slowly turn the handwheel toward you counterclockwise and verify that the needle does not touch the foot.

Sources and pages

OEM compatibility boundary

  • No universal, third-party, cross-brand or standardized-shank compatibility is asserted.; Applies to the U.S. BLMY manual scope established on physical PDF page 9.

Use the foot appropriate for the selected stitch and only presser feet designed specifically for this sewing machine.

Sources and pages

Shank class

Not yet verified
  • Not yet verified: The reviewed exact-manual pages do not name a standardized low-, high- or slant-shank class.

Shank type

  • Only exact accepted Melody BLMY and this retained Baby Lock August2025 accessory catalog; other names, suffixes, generations and regions remain separate. The original manual-specific U.S. ceiling and all prior manual conditions are preserved.
  • This is a manufacturer chart classification, not dimensions, a universal adapter/holder promise, an offered retail unit, supplied equipment or proof that every accessory in the group fits. Follow exact manual and accessory conditions.
  • Keep the printed G/L code: G is the accessory group; L uses the existing evidence engine low-shank mapping. No measured shank height, interchangeable holder or generic foot fit is established.

Low shank (the OEM group/shank chart prints G/L).

Specifications & documented facts

Specifications apply to the named model and document edition. Read any setup, fabric or safety requirements with the answer.

Owner features

Cleaning

  • Incorrect bobbin-case installation may break the needle. Do not use a scratched bobbin case; the manual names XC3153-151 as the replacement. This bobbin-case instruction does not establish a whole-machine or technician lubrication policy.; Applies to the U.S. BLMY manual scope established on physical PDF page 9.

Turn the machine off and unplug it, remove the flat-bed attachment, needle-plate cover and bobbin case, then brush or vacuum lint and dust from the race and surrounding area. Do not oil the bobbin case. Reinstall it correctly with its projection aligned to the spring, replace the cover and flat-bed attachment.

Sources and pages

Lubrication

Not yet verified
  • Not yet verified: The reviewed pages prohibit oil on the bobbin case but do not establish a whole-machine owner or technician lubrication rule.

Performance & stitch capabilities

Speed control conditions

  • This is a mode-specific control interaction; it does not establish a numeric sewing or embroidery speed ceiling.; Applies to the U.S. BLMY manual scope established on physical PDF page 9.

For the documented satin-stitch Width Control mode, the sewing-speed slider changes stitch width while the foot controller controls sewing speed.

Sources and pages

Maximum sewing speed

Not yet verified
  • Not yet verified: The reviewed exact-manual pages do not establish a numeric maximum sewing speed.

Maximum embroidery speed

Not yet verified
  • Not yet verified: The reviewed exact-manual pages do not establish a numeric maximum embroidery speed.

Care, setup & service references

Use the full source procedure and its safety precautions. A short referenced answer is not a substitute for service documentation or qualified electrical/mechanical repair.

Service-manual availability and service-only procedures remain unestablished unless separately cataloged and reviewed.

Coverage and source-review limits

Model-specific manuals cover bobbins, needles, feet, care and sewing speeds where stated. Standard shank class, broader substitutions and third-party foot compatibility remain unconfirmed.

Other names, regional versions, production history, further specifications and documents are not fully covered here. Their absence is not a “none exist” finding.

Next evidence targets

  • Formal needle system, shank class and bobbin class remain unestablished.
  • The documented width-control mode does not establish maximum stitch width or sewing speed.
  • Do not generalize the bobbin-case no-oiling instruction into a complete lubrication schedule.

These are research questions, not claims that the missing relationship exists.
