Before choosing a part
Compatibility essentials
Start with these documented details. Read the requirements with each answer before choosing a needle, bobbin or foot.
- Foot attachment
- Needle system / designation
Use 130/705H in the right needle position. The left position is listed as 130/705H (JL×2), with JL×2 specifically directed for heavyweight materials.
Requirements and sources →- Differential feed / fabric settings
For MO-654DEN, use N toward 1.5–2 for wool knit, thick hand-knit and other stretchy fabrics; N toward 1.5 for thin knit and jersey; N for woven fabrics; and N toward 0.7 for georgette, linen, satin and poplin.

What do you need help with?
Which needles apply in each position, and how are they inserted?
Before you use this answer
Keep the right/left needle distinction and heavyweight condition. Read the original disconnection and installation conditions before the full illustrated procedure; no alternate system equivalence is established.
Documents and page references →How do I change the foot and use extra lift safely?
Before you use this answer
Follow the original safety conditions and full exact-model procedure. A documented attachment or lift does not establish generic or third-party foot compatibility.
Documents and page references →What threading preparation and lower-looper sequence does this manual describe?
Before you use this answer
Read the original preparation, threading order and exact MO-654DEN conditions before the full illustrated sequence. Do not transfer MO-644DN-only instructions.
Documents and page references →What should I do after lower-looper thread breakage?
Before you use this answer
Keep the ordered recovery instructions and original safety conditions. Removing cut needle threads is distinct from removing the needles; use the complete cited procedure.
Documents and page references →How are three-thread width, differential feed and gathering set?
Before you use this answer
Each setup has its own needle, fabric and setting conditions. Keep those conditions with the corresponding answer and consult the full illustrated procedure.
Documents and page references →What cleaning and lubrication does the manual describe?
Before you use this answer
Read all original disconnection, cleaning and oil-handling precautions before the full care instructions. This bounded guidance does not establish repair procedures or substitute oils.

Which standard presser-foot article does the February 2026 JUKI catalog list?
Before you use this answer
Use the exact MO-654DEN column and model-specific shape/function limits; stock, package contents and retail fit remain separate.
Documents and page references →Which blind-stitch foot is restricted to the right needle?
Before you use this answer
Retain the right-needle-only restriction; do not use this entry to establish a needle system or generic foot mount.
Documents and page references →Which blind-stitch foot is listed for right or left needle use?
Before you use this answer
Keep the exact article, movable-guide context and catalog limits; universal in the article name is not universal machine fit.

Needle
System by position
- Preserve the right/left distinction; do not generalize JL×2 to both positions or all fabrics.
Use 130/705H in the right needle position. The left position is listed as 130/705H (JL×2), with JL×2 specifically directed for heavyweight materials.
Sources and pages
Needle insertion
- Tighten the needle clamp screws securely after full insertion.
Turn power off, fully raise the needles, lower or remove the presser foot, then insert the right needle first and the left needle the same way, fully upward with each flat side away from you.
Sources and pages
Attachment mount mechanism
- This establishes only the documented pin-and-groove mechanism, not universal or third-party foot fit.
With power off, raise the foot and needles, release the foot with point C, then place the replacement pin directly under holder groove D and lower the lifting lever to engage it.
Sources and pages
Extra lift safety
- Do not run the machine or turn the handwheel while using extra lift.
The extra-lift position provides more space for heavyweight material between the foot and throat plate.

Generic compatibility

Specifications & documented facts
Specifications apply to the named model and document edition. Read any setup, fabric or safety requirements with the answer.
Owner features
Threading preparation and order
- Turn power off and unplug before opening covers to thread the loopers.
Fully raise the support rod, open the looper cover and cloth plate, turn the handwheel toward you until the needles are fully raised, raise the upper knife, then thread upper looper blue, lower looper red, right needle green and left needle yellow in that order.
Sources and pages
Lower looper threading
- Turn power off and unplug for looper threading; do not substitute the separate MO-644DN-only method.
For MO-654DEN, raise the needle fully and lower the threading-device lever, guide thread through its guide and slit, hold it loosely in the left hand, and turn the handwheel until the upper and lower loopers just cross; the device then returns automatically before the lower-looper eye is threaded and the thread is routed beneath the foot.
Sources and pages
Lower looper breakage recovery
- Turn power off and unplug before working in the looper and needle areas.
If the lower-looper thread breaks or slips, cut both needle threads at the needles, remove the cut needle threads, then thread the lower looper before rethreading the needles.
Sources and pages
Three thread width setup
- Cut off and remove the unused former needle thread; turn power off before changing needles.
For 4 mm three-thread overlocking, remove the left needle and thread upper looper, lower looper and right needle. For 6 mm, remove the right needle and thread upper looper, lower looper and left needle.

Differential feed
- Trial-sew after adjustment; settings depend on fabric and whether waves or puckering need correction.
For MO-654DEN, use N toward 1.5–2 for wool knit, thick hand-knit and other stretchy fabrics; N toward 1.5 for thin knit and jersey; N for woven fabrics; and N toward 0.7 for georgette, linen, satin and poplin.
Sources and pages
Gathering
- This setup is limited to a single lightweight layer; set differential feed to N when sewing without differential feed.
To gather one layer of lightweight fabric, set stitch length to maximum 4 and differential feed to 1.5–2.

Cleaning and lubrication
- Switch off and disconnect from electricity before cleaning or lubricating; the diagram, not this summary, controls exact oiling points. Follow the manual's oil precautions: wash exposed eyes or skin immediately, seek medical advice if swallowed, keep oil away from children, and dispose of it according to applicable law.
Regularly remove collected dust and fluff. The machine requires very little lubrication; lubricate only the illustrated points now and then.

Performance & stitch capabilities
Overlocking width by needle
- The retained shared manual specification table gives left-hand needle6mm, right-hand needle4mm and roll hemming2mm as different configurations. Existing three-thread needle-removal/threading conditions remain separately authoritative.
- This is overlocking/rolled-hem width, not maximum zigzag width, a continuous range, needle spacing, presser-foot clearance or an attachment-fit grant.
- Applies to the exact accepted MO-654DEN within the retained36-page OEM manual; edition/region not established. No sibling identity, revision fanout or PDF distribution/sale permission.
overlocking-width system: left needle 6 mm; right needle 4 mm; rolled hem 2 mm

Knife system
- The existing accepted core value describes the retained manual's knife assembly; page6 labels upper/lower knives and page13 expressly describes lower-knife position adjustment for cutting width.
- Turn power OFF before opening the looper cover; the safety page also requires unplugging for removed/open covers, looper threading and stated user servicing. Consult the full diagrams and procedures.
- No knife part number, replacement interchangeability, cutting-width range, new operating sequence, aftermarket fit or machine-wide clearance inferred.

Looper system
- The page6 diagram names upper/lower loopers and expressly marks the lower-looper threader MO-654DEN. Existing exact MO-654DEN threading guidance remains separate; exclude the page20MO-644DN-only method.
- Turn power OFF and unplug before opening covers for looper threading or stated user servicing; consult the complete source procedure.
- No looper part number, bobbin/hook architecture, cross-model replacement equivalence, automatic air-threading feature or retail-product fit established.

Care, setup & service references
Use the full source procedure and its safety precautions. A short referenced answer is not a substitute for service documentation or qualified electrical/mechanical repair.
Service-manual availability and service-only procedures remain unestablished unless separately cataloged and reviewed.
